EMDR Therapy & Intensives for Lasting Change

SageMind Psychology offers EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy and EMDR intensives to help clients heal from trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and other distressing experiences. Services are available in-person in Brooklyn Heights and virtually for clients in New York and New Jersey.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR is a research-based psychotherapy that helps clients process and resolve traumatic experiences. Using bilateral stimulation (BLS)—tapping, auditory tones, or guided eye movements—EMDR accelerates the brain’s ability to integrate distressing memories.

It’s effective for:

  • PTSD and trauma

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Depression

  • OCD

  • Chronic pain

  • Addictions

Studies show that even three EMDR sessions can result in an 84% remission of PTSD, and EMDR can outperform medication like Prozac in trauma treatment.

EMDR Intensives

For faster or more focused healing, we offer EMDR intensives, typically three two-hour sessions, fully customized to your clinical and scheduling needs. Intensives can:

  • Jumpstart your healing journey

  • Serve as a “tune-up” alongside ongoing therapy

  • Accelerate symptom relief for clients with busy schedules

Weekly EMDR sessions are also available if intensives do not fit your schedule.

Your EMDR Therapist

All sessions are provided by Luke Chobanian, an experienced trauma-focused clinician. Luke works closely with clients to create a personalized plan, ensuring safety, pacing, and lasting results.

Why EMDR Works

Trauma can leave the brain in a prolonged “fight or flight” state, making emotional regulation and processing difficult. EMDR helps the brain safely reprocess traumatic memories, allowing clients to:

  • Reduce or eliminate PTSD, anxiety, and depression symptoms

  • Build emotional resilience and coping skills

  • Heal from past experiences while moving forward confidently

This approach empowers clients to transform trauma into growth and reclaim control of their lives.
