Postdoctoral Psychologist Position in CBT & DBT

Fall 2027 | Hybrid | Brooklyn Heights or Syosset, NY

SageMind Psychology is a collaborative group private practice specializing in evidence-based treatment for children, adolescents, adults, and families. We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral psychologist who is passionate about CBT, DBT, and providing thoughtful, effective clinical care.

Applicants must have at least one year of clinical training or experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and at least one year of clinical experience working with children. Both requirements are mandatory.

This hybrid position combines virtual clinical work with in-person sessions at either our Brooklyn Heights or Syosset location. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive supervision, dedicated administrative support, and flexible scheduling in a collaborative private practice environment.

About SageMind Psychology

Our clinicians specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), parent-focused interventions, and other evidence-based approaches. We treat a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, OCD, depression, emotion dysregulation, trauma, behavioral difficulties, and interpersonal challenges. Our practice also offers comprehensive DBT programming, skills groups, and intensive outpatient treatment.

We are committed to providing high-quality clinical care while creating an intellectually stimulating, collaborative environment where clinicians feel supported in their professional growth.

Why Join Our Team?

  • Focus on clinical work, not administrative tasks: Our dedicated administrative team handles new client inquiries, intake coordination, scheduling, billing, and practice operations, so clinicians can prioritize clinical care, documentation, consultation, and professional development.

  • High-quality supervision and mentorship: Weekly clinical supervision toward licensure, ongoing consultation, and individualized mentorship from experienced psychologists and therapists specializing in CBT, DBT, ERP, and other evidence-based approaches, designed to support the transition to independent practice.

  • Develop your own clinical specialty: Whether your interests include child and adolescent therapy, OCD and anxiety disorders, trauma, parent-focused interventions, or comprehensive DBT, we support your growth in the areas you find most meaningful.

  • Flexibility and work-life balance: Our hybrid model offers flexibility in scheduling and caseload development, so you can balance professional goals with personal priorities.

  • A collaborative team and long-term professional home: We value collaboration, consultation, and shared learning, and we hope our postdoctoral psychologists will continue growing with SageMind beyond their fellowship year.

Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • DBT experience: A minimum of one year of clinical training or experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

  • Child clinical experience: A minimum of one year of clinical experience providing treatment to children.

  • Doctoral training: Completion of, or anticipated completion of, a PhD or PsyD in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology from an accredited doctoral program.

  • Licensure eligibility: Eligibility for a New York State limited permit to practice psychology.

  • Affirming care: Commitment to culturally responsive and LGBTQIA+ affirming clinical care.

  • Hybrid availability: Ability to provide both virtual and in-person treatment at either our Brooklyn Heights or Syosset location.

Preferred Qualifications
We are particularly interested in candidates who:

  • Additional training: Have additional training in CBT, ERP, or other evidence-based treatments.

  • Broader experience: Have experience working with adolescents, adults, and parents.

  • Comprehensive DBT: Are interested in comprehensive DBT programming, including individual therapy, skills groups, and intensive treatment.

  • Collaboration: Enjoy working collaboratively with other clinicians and participating in clinical consultation.

  • Long-term growth: Are interested in developing a clinical specialty and building a long-term career in private practice.

  • Availability: Have some afternoon or evening availability.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation: Expected annual compensation of $70,000 to $125,000, depending on desired caseload and clinical hours. Compensation is fee for service, and the position is W-2.

  • Flexible scheduling: Hybrid scheduling in Brooklyn Heights or Syosset, NY.

  • Supervision: Weekly clinical supervision toward psychology licensure.

  • Training: Ongoing mentorship and opportunities for advanced training in CBT, DBT, and related treatments.

  • Administrative support: Dedicated support for intake coordination, scheduling, billing, and practice operations, with minimal administrative paperwork.

  • Time off: Generous, flexible vacation.

  • Professional development: Professional development stipend.

  • Team: Supportive, collaborative team environment.

  • Growth: Opportunities for continued employment and professional growth following the postdoctoral year.

A two-year commitment to the practice is expected, with the opportunity to continue building a long-term career at SageMind Psychology following licensure.
